Remote Cathodic Protection for Pipes & Utilities – Efficiency and Endurance
Historically water pipes—thousands of miles of them—have been buried underground, leaving them susceptible to the soil’s corrosive effects. Without intelligent technology it is almost impossible to detect leakage before millions of gallons of water are lost. Protecting these pipes is a priority for many utility companies. Advance warning of deterioration protects the infrastructure and prevents losses.
The Bacsoft Smart Communications Controller provides remote monitoring and control over rectifiers driving current along the pipe surface to create a micro-gap or barrier that slows corrosion. The Smart Controller can also be connected directly to any field-deployed anode to monitor the efficiency and functionality of the cathodic protection of the pipes and to send an alarm if infrastructure is deteriorating.
The solution includes the Bacsoft IoT Cloud which manages communications, collects the data for analysis, and provides alerts and alarms. Fully customizable web and mobile applications along with a simple SCADA integration enable water management teams to shut off supply immediately.
